The META Foundation’s board is all dedicated advocates for Latinx students in pursuit of higher education. Our board works tirelessly to ensure the organization's long-term sustainability through responsible financial stewardship and a fixed focus on maximizing the impact of each dollar raised.

  • Leo Estevez

    CHAIR, META BOARD OF DIRECTORS

    Leo Estevez is a partner and founder of small green door, a full-service web and graphic design and photography studio in Commerce, California. A Los Angeles native, Leo was born in Bellflower to Latin immigrant parents and grew up in Bell Gardens. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and New Media from Art Center in Pasadena followed by a Masters from UC Berkeley. Leo began his career as a fine artist by exhibiting interactive, large-scale installations and sculptures at such prestigious venues as the Berkeley Art Museum, PS1, LA Design Center and the Munich National Opera House.

    After several years dedicated to fine art in San Francisco and New York City, Leo, his wife Dunja, and their son Avo moved back to Los Angeles where they formed small green door in pursuit of a return to true multi-disciplinary creativity while incubating up-and-coming artists and talent in their community. Leo joined META in 2018 and became the Chair in 2020.

    Steves A. Rodriguez

    TREASURER, META BOARD OF DIRECTORS

    Steven is a partner with the accounting firm Freemark Financial LLP in Beverly Hills, where he provides business management consultancy and tax services to a wide range of clientele. He has worked with many of the largest production companies in the United States, a variety of musical artists, television actors, and directors.

    Lisa Arellanes

    BOARD MEMBER

    In her role at SCA, one of the nation’s largest electric utility companies, Lisa is responsible for business development activities supporting SCE’s vehicle electrification programs and services. For more than a decade, Lisa has focused on helping utility customers achieve their energy management and sustainability goals. She holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

  • Helen Brewer

    BOARD MEMBER

    Helen believes that education impacts and positively changes the lives and legacies of individuals and families, this belief is her driving reason to serve as a META Board Member. Helen is a Regional Sales Manager with The Home Depot Pro, the wholesale arm of The Home Depot. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Oklahoma and Masters of Business Administration from Pepperdine University. Her other volunteer activities include serving on the Scholarship and Ways and Means Committees for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, participation in several home builds with Habitat for Humanity both domestically and internationally and leading charitable efforts to instill and demonstrate the value of Giving Back at The Home Depot Pro.

    Warner Carrillo

    BOARD MEMBER

    Warner is a senior sales, marketing and technology executive. He is a strong cloud strategist who enjoys leading innovation across verticals focused on delivering organizational results.

    He currently works at Google in Google Cloud Business Transformation as the Seller Automation & Experience Lead.

    Over the years, Warner has been active on boards of directors for many causes he is passionate about.

  • Lee Polster

    Board Member

    Lee strongly believes in the power of education to make dreams come true. As a scholar-athlete at Occidental College, he had the opportunity to mentor and coach young athletes who were on their way to achieving their dreams. Lee is the Founder Partner/President of EOP Realty, Inc., a company that provides expertise in strategic investment design; portfolio management; construction management; debt placement and advisement; risk management; research and trend analysis; underwriting / financial analysis; spatial identification; demographic study; general due diligence and acquisition/disposition programming.

  • Marina L. Ramirez

    Board Member

    As a Senior Associate Attorney for Alvarez-Glasman and Colvin, Marina represents school districts, cities, police departments, and special districts with a focus on labor and employment, and governance and leadership. Marina received her Juris Doctorate from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mexican-American Studies and Africana Studies, from the University of Arizona. While in law school, Marina was an Associate Editor for the UDC Law Review and President of the Latino/Law Student Association.
